Schloss Wartin, one of the most beautiful historic mansions in the Uckermark, serves as the seat of the Foundation Collegium Wartinum. Inspired by the spirit of a Cambridge College, the foundation focuses on academic, cultural, and historic preservation activities. Beyond maintaining the castle, its surrounding park, and the box hedge garden enclosed by a four-meter-high brick wall that forms an “island of peace, thoughtfulness, and beauty” we care for the entire ensemble, including former farmhouses and a historic barn with its own stage. This historic barn provides a rare, atmospheric setting for theatre and live music; notably, the famous Berliner Ensemble has performed here twice.

Through the dedication of our foundation and support from institutions like the “Stiftung Denkmalschutz”, the restoration of this 1698 estate was recognized with the Heritage Award of the State of Brandenburg. Today, Schloss Wartin is an open venue where universities, academic institutions, and private groups for seminars, cultural gatherings, weddings, and private events can apply for a place of tolerance whereas the former federal government minister for science Prof. Wanka put it “the human spirit can truly fly.”
